Creating a mini-empire of handcrafted goodness

Doc Cobbler & Wunderplant

Jess Cameron-Wootten and Amy Wright; a duo so multi-talented it’s almost maddening. It’s certainly exhausting. Combining their powers they are creating a mini-empire of handcrafted goodness.

Jess is resurrecting the dying art of shoemaking as Doc Cobbler. He is figuratively following in his cobbler father’s footsteps by creating beautiful bespoke footwear, both orthopaedic, and those with a fashionable leaning under the label Wootten.

Meanwhile Amy works with fabulous flora as Wunderplant. A botanical artist, she creates textiles, art and homewares featuring her naturalistic prints as well as floristry. Her aesthetic is a little offbeat. You may find Amy’s posies combine rare blooms with plants that are commonly considered weeds, perhaps she is currently using badminton shuttlecocks as planters or creating living vases.

Together in studio as Woot’n Wright they also make accessories, bags and belts and ready to wear shoes utilising Amy’s textiles and artworks and Jess’ way with leather. Soon the pair may teach classes on how to make shoes, floral arrangements and art. Amy also runs A Shop Called Milton which showcases their wares and those of like-minded labels. See, (wonderfully) exhausting!
