Gay CSP Guide
Local Hotspots for GLBTI-Friendly Businesses

The Chapel Street Precinct welcomes diversity with a range of gay-friendly hospitality.

Sydney has the famous Oxford Street. Here in Melbourne we have Prahran’s Commercial Road. Known as a local hotspot for GLBTI-friendly businesses, many venues here are gay owned and operated. This hub is predominantly known for its nightspots; from intimate cocktail bars to rollicking dance clubs. Some places feature a patronage that is exclusively gay or lesbian, some a mixed clientele. Essentially we have “something for everyone” in the truest sense of the cliché.

Try Priscilla’s @153, who pride themselves on entertaining drag shows and a friendly atmosphere. Or the more recently launched DnM Bar emerging on the site of the former iconic Xchange Hotel. Diva Bar and Heaven’s Door both feature regular entertainment and a promise to have visitors up and dancing.

However the Chapel Street Precinct’s hospitality is not relegated only to Commercial Road’s clubs. Extending beyond that strip and into daylight hours there are bookshops, stylish cafes and fine dining restaurants ready and waiting to welcome one and all.
