Shop It: The Vintage Way

There is nothing more thrilling then the buzz I get from scouring through racks of clothing trying to find my next addition to my already overfilled wardrobe. I am constantly getting compliments for outfits that cost less than twenty dollars and I enjoy informing people that my look is (to their surprise) all purchased from op shops in my local area.

I am always popping into op shops around Melbourne, hunting to find those fantastic hidden treasures. As well as going to op shops, I go to markets around Melbourne where I am always haggling for a good price. Don’t let looks deceive, I may be a twenty year old visual art student but I am feisty for a good bargain.

I enjoy re-inventing my wardrobe with unusual op shop purchases, by collaborating items I already have to create a fresh and unique look. I am always searching for that next great find, keeping an eye out for colour, pattern, shape and fit. I never judge a garment by its brand – although I won’t complain about my incredible one dollar Gucci bag purchase.

After years of second hand shopping on a student’s budget, I soon thought of a way to make some extra cash from my addiction. For over two years I have been selling my hidden bargains at vintage markets- Although I still have a hard time parting with my favorites!

I am also lucky enough to have a very fashionable grandmother who has taught me to recognize the value of vintage fashion, and I am always wearing one of her old goodies that she has given me.
