The label formerly known as Tsubi, has finally set up shop on Chapel Street. The rebellious label never shies away from the spotlight so is a perfect fit for the fashion destination; so what took them so long?
Designers Dan Single and George Gorrow seem to thrive on the tumultuous nature of the fashion industry. After pushing models overboard, letting rats run riot on the catwalk, not to mention several behind-the-scenes dramas from which they have emerged unscathed, their latest achievement seems rather like smooth sailing.
The new Melbourne store, as with all their standalone stores, is creatively titled. ‘The End of the Moon’ is inspired by the lunar landing (if you believe that kind of stuff) and NASA paraphernalia gleaned from a US auction house. The space is stripped back in a nouveau grunge style with exposed brickwork, industrial concrete and florescent lighting tubes as a feature.
There’s even an American flag planted on a tiny moonscape. However the only type of exploring to be done here is among the new collections and occasional exhibitions in store.
