What happens when you give a single person the chance to make the ultimate #ChapLap? A bomb is let off on radio airwaves!

At 6:00AM AEDST on Monday 21st November, KIIS101.1 and the Chapel Street Precinct Association launched the promotional event of the year. $20K in 20 Minutes on Chapel gives one lucky KIIS 101.1 listener the once in a lifetime opportunity to spend up large on Chapel Street, to the tune of $20,000! There is one small catch, the winner only has 20 minutes to spend every last cent. While some may see this as a daunting task, social media has been alight with worthy participants boasting their speed spending abilities.

Maria Savage, one of 2,700 commenters on a KIIS 101.1 Facebook post asking people to tag a friend who could spend $20K on Chapel Street in their sleep commented.

“Me!!!! I don’t need friends’ help!! I’ll be done in 10 min and could fit in a cheeky coffee stop too! I’m an Olympic level shopper! Matt Savage can testify for that! ”

So, who took out the competition for the chance to spend up big on Chapel?

On Friday 2nd December, Matt & Meshel revealed that Katrina Scuruchi of Warrandyte had won the 20 large to splash on Chapel! She was whisked to the KIIS 101.1 station, then straight to Chapel where she absolutely smashed the shopping trip of a lifetime!

The #chaplap went like this:

The first stop was Flight Centre for two return tickets to Europe and a Contiki tour for herself and her partner.

Imagine choosing two couches for your new apartment inside a minute and just picking a dresser out of nowhere, well, that is exactly what Katrina did in West Elm!

Then it was a quick ride across the road to Matt Blatt for a coffee table and dining set for her brand new home she is moving into.

Every girl’s dream came true when Katrina walked into MAC Cosmetics and managed to buy every single shade of lipstick!

Katrina wasn’t stopping there! She purchased TEN pairs of shoes and heaps of accessories from Tony Bianco before heading to Zimmerman for five pairs of new bathers as well as two gowns.

Now that, friends, is how you spend $20K in 20 Minutes on Chapel!
