Here’s what’s new to Chapel Street in August! Now, this month’s article is an ode to South Yarra. What was once the “cool” hub of Chapel Street has taken a bit of a back seat to Windsor of late – the runaway star of 2017.
But we feel a slight uprising from the north, as South Yarra bursts back into life and splutters back into action. Like the magnificent Magnolia bloom in early Spring, the ‘Paris’ end of Chapel Street is back and gaining a little traction. If the new retail and hospo openings in August have anything to show for it – Windsor better prepare for battle.
Legend (and fact) tell us that House of Lulu White was once a boudoir, palace of good times, or plain ol’ brothel – so the transformation is literally night to day.
She’s prettied herself a bit, with an interior that is fitting of South Yarra’s cafe scene – and the food will leave you fully satisfied with all of your brunch faves. The chicken and waffles in the ‘naughty’ menu has our mouths salivating. If you’re into something a little ‘nicer’ there’s a fruity acai bowl or an apple and rhubarb porridge with your name on it. Plus, they have Duke’s espresso blend brewing all day – so you really can’t go wrong. Drag your BF, BFF or someone you only kinda like down for a quickie, or stay for the full service.

This pretty pink dose of sunshine has moved in where Matt Blatt once held residence, and we’re kinda glad they left! Lounge Lovers has totally made over the space and injected a serious amount of pink. While it takes a little bit of time to get used to the hue – it’s the killer sofas that actually get your attention. Super modern with clean lines and perfect for apartment living, we could picture every single sofa sitting nicely in amongst the loft apartments of Prahran and the super sleek high rises of South Yarra. If you see the velvet blue number by the window – keep your hands off. That one’s all ours!

If the burger game of Chapel Street wasn’t already fierce enough, Kung Fu Burger just upped the ante! This killer new burger joint fuses the holy burger with niche asian flavours. The Oh Crab and Buddha Temple burgers look interesting, but it’s the Peking Pork Tacos that are top of our list!
