South Yarra gets a bad wrap, and we’re not having it. The most northern end of Chapel Street, surrounded by high rises (and high incomes) isn’t just a concrete jungle, it’s a hub of new and exciting eateries, bars and cafes with a few extra goodies thrown in for good measure. We’re sure that it’ll be giving the trendier Windsor a run for it’s money very shortly.

Here are six reasons we’re obsessed with Claremont Street in South Yarra

And by sweet, I mean Zumbo sweet. Adriano Zumbo’s ‘Zumbo Patisserie’ on Claremont Street is the home of neon lights and sugar delights. Plus, the crew who peddle the sweet baked goods are a god damned pleasure! We’d just pop in for a chat if we could leave the building without a Zumbaron in hand.

The Best Flat White

If you’re a local, you know Two Birds, One Stone. It’s a local fave and we’ve even heard rumours that Windsor-siders will cross High Street just to get there. The coffee is always good, the interiors are beautiful and there’s always a super friendly vibe to the place. Next time you’re around, make sure to pop in. You’ll be happy you did.

3. It’s all about love // YES Mural at the Victorian Aids Council

This ode to love not only gives Claremont Street a rainbow aura, it’s also the perfect backdrop for your next Insta ‘yes’ post. Painted outside the Victorian Aids Council, while you’re there taking your #selfie for equality, pop in and get a few red ribbon pins for World Aids Day on 1 December.

4. It’s kind / V.

This super trendy vegan cafe makes it easy to pick up a nutritious and straight up tasty meal… that just happens to be vegan! It’s affordable, accessible and exciting – and let’s be fair, those aren’t three words that you’d typically pair with vegan food is it? While you’re there, you HAVE to pick up a bottle of Bkon. A type of cold filter coffee that is so different to your typical brew. Plus, you’ll feel amazing knowing that the coffee used at V. is ethical and the farmers growing the green beans are paid a fair price and work under fair conditions. Now that’s something to get behind.
