Had a big night? Mouth as dry as the Sahara desert and stomach shouting ‘f*ck you!’? It’s okay, we understand that on Chapel Street one wine can often turn into many and a couple of beers can find you sending that 8th unanswered text to your crush. Lucky for you, as well as having a plethora of bars, Chapel Street also has an abundance of cafes and restaurants conducive to curing hangovers. It’s time to give that hangover a piece of your mind, or what’s left of it at least. Depending on what you’re into, we’ve provided a range of options for said ails – everything from high calorie eateries to juice detoxes and why not a cheeky ‘hair of the dog’? Bonus points for a mean Bloody Mary!

Here are 10 ways to conquer and 10/10 hangover on Chapel Street.
Leonards House of Love

No one has ever rejected a juicy piece of fried chicken whilst their head is pounding. Fortunately, Leonard’s House of Love serves up tenders so good you’ll beat the headache and want to go again (maybe). We recommend the original tenders with pickles and chipotle mayo. They also serve up the Proudest Bloody Mary your lips have ever touched. Spice level up to you!

Pidapipo Nutella Windosr, Chapel Street

Don’t let a hangover ruin your day. Let creamy, milky, sweet goodness provide moisture to that dry mouth, Apple Crumble is our Winter fave. Be sure to add hot nutella and enjoy your comfort food proudly.

Soda Rock Diner Chapel Street

All you need to know is Soda Rock Diner specialises in American style hot dogs, burgers and milkshakes. Need we say more? You may think you fell in love on the dancefloor last night, but no lover will compare to Soda Rock’s spiders and ultimate sundaes. Staff in roller skates will have your aching head questioning how/why anyone is moving that fast. Pick a song on the jukebox and don’t forget to give Elvis a kiss on your way out.

Middle South East

Middle South East is the headache hot spot, here to fuel your recovery. A menu stacked with hangover meals, our pick? The Middle Parma; panko crumbed chicken fillet, topped with Napoli and smoked eggplant salsa, grilled halloumi cheese, served with hand-cut chips and greens. Top it off with a Middle Mary, $10 all day on a Sunday, and feel like yourself again.

Green Cup

Green Cup has a magical way of turning organic greens into delicious. Don’t go past their Charcoal Cleanser Smoothie. Bringing all the benefits of a detox to your body and skin. Did you know? (We didn’t either), activated charcoal helps alleviate bloating, cleanse your digestive system, flush toxins and chemicals and aids in anti-aging. Could this be anymore necessary?!

Hu Tong Dumpling Bar

Ah dumplings, always there for you when you’re at your lowest. The ideal hangover cure, you can never stop at just one helping. Just imagining these steamy balls of goodness swimming in soy sauce and entering your mouth is enough to bring you back to life.

Borsch Vodka and Tears Windosr, Chapel Street Food

This Melbourne institution has been providing the cure and the hangover for many years now. Dig into a juicy Polish meal, but remember to steer clear of the Green Fairy. Unsurpassed in the Bloody Mary category, we’re talking homemade garlic and chilli infused vodka with tomato juice, fresh lemon, worcestershire, tabasco and enough veg to skip breakfast. Be sure to flee before the bar gets dark and rowdy again.

Lover Uncommon Espresso Windsor, Chapel Street

Hair of the dog is commonly known and widely supported, mainly because it means we can, um, drink more. The Uncommon Espresso Martini from Lover is one you don’t want to miss; vodka, coffee liqueur, pineapple syrup, choc bitters, vanilla and lavender foam. And if that’s not your thing, Lover serves up the meanest gnocchi in town. You’ll eat one serving and want three more.

Yellow Bird Cafe Chapel Street

Yellow Bird Cafe seems like it opened with the sole purpose to blast hangovers on Chapel Street. Don’t go past their South of the Border menu options, or if you’re watching your waistline, there’s the Swingin’ Salads. This crew are huge fans of the Bloody Mary, happy hour is from 4 – 6 if you think you can handle it.

Massive Wieners Chapel Street

So you like fries? What would you like on those fries? This is a simple menu that won’t require much thinking. Super-sized sausages from Massive Wieners are basically a hangover cure wrapped in…we’re not entirely sure, but top one off with some Disco Fries and you’re good to go. Service is quick, so you won’t have to be in public any longer than necessary in your sad state.
