Ahhh September you beautiful month… Spring is here, Summer is on its way and it’s AFL Finals time! While there’s nothing like being in the thick of it at the G, let’s be realistic. You’d probably have to sell your first born for a ticket, miss half the game while lining up for a drink, sell your second born for a pie and some chips and then legit freeze your butt off when that arctic MCG wind sets in. Forget all that, head to Chapel Street – where with all the festivities, the real winner is… you.

A fresh new rooftop bar and restaurant has popped up in South Yarra, just in time for some more agreeable weather! Good views, good vibes, good footy. What more can you ask for? Other than a win of course. There’s free entry all day and night, four big screens and DJ’s pumping tunes from 6pm.

119 Commercial Rd, South Yarra

$105 will get you a five hour food and beverage package from 12pm in the Upton Bar, with the game shown live with commentary. For something more casual, the Public Bar will be in full swing with a $55 shared banquet on the menu. Book now to snag a seat!

Chapel Street’s favourite prohibition themed bar is hosting finals footy for another spectacular year. Live on the big screens in a covered and, more importantly, heated courtyard. Happy hour is from 4pm to 7pm, celebratory if your team is winning, great to drown your sorrows if they’re losing.

359 Chapel St, South Yarra

Kick back and enjoy four hours of bottomless drinks and roaming BBQ with The Imperial’s AFL Granny package. For $70 a pop, you’d best book quicksmart, because tickets won’t last long. Stick around after the final siren for live acoustic melodies taking you into the night.

If you were to ask us, ‘What’s the only thing you could add to make The Emerson even better?’ we’d say footy. Looks like our prayers have been answered. Take in the breathtaking rooftop views while you watch the game on the big screen. Indulge in the $65 bevs package and get unlimited drinks from first bounce to final siren. Or, there’s the $20 food and snack package. Limited VIP booth tickets also available.

If Dusty Martin was a grand final food and beverage package, he’d be served up at Katuk on grand final day! $99 for 5 hours of beer, wine and basic spirits (which will leave you dusty the next day). Then there’s the food… Burgers from 12pm til bounce down, then halftime sausage rolls and beef pies (homemade and gourmet – they’re not whipping out the Savings brand). That’s enough to raise a cup right there.

Some of us love being at the G, amongst 100,000 people. Others prefer sitting on the couch with their besties. If you’re looking for more of an intimate spot to get involved, Wolf and I will make you feel like you haven’t even left your lounge room. Although on Grand Final Day, it may be harder to get in than the G itself. Why? Glad you asked… They’re doing free Furphy pots from starting siren to first goal. Yep, you read that correctly… This is not a drill. Free. Pots. Soak it in.

152 Chapel St, Windsor

Usually reserved for American Sports – The Silverlake Social are Aussie’ing it up! Free cork hats and vegemite for erryone! Nah, just kidding – but they are switching their screens to our beautiful game for every match of the finals series. Happy hour is from 12pm to 2pm providing exceptional value with $12 cocktails, $9 schooners and $6 house wines!

198 Chapel St, Prahran

union hotel-afl-grand-final-chapel-street

More consistent than Josh Kennedy for a great spot to watch any major sporting event. The Union Hotel will be next level for this years’ final, with five big screens and some sweet food and drink packages.

90 Chapel St, Windsor

Hosting the footy finals at home this year? There’s a few things you simply can’t afford to get wrong. Is the TV sound in good nick? Are the beers ice cold? And, are there hot pies at your guests constant disposal? Footy and pies go hand in hand so look not further than Alison’s Bakery for all your footy food needs. Pre order your pies on the Wednesday so they’re ready to go on D Day or grab them hot on game day, if you’re in a last minute rush! ‘Cause there’s nothing more footy than a burnt tongue from a blasting hot pie.
