In this day and age, where we are bombarded with so much messaging it’s easy to not give a rats about anything. But then came along the Marriage Equality poll. I had my opinion and was ready to tick the right box and return it without much of a kerfuffle. Then some idiot in a plane wrote ‘no’ in the sky while I sat with my baby girl in the park and it finally got my goat. She’s too young to understand what it represents, but I’m not too old to make sure she knows I’ll support any decisions she makes.

Fashion is (still) all about political statements right now. Runway Three of Melbourne Fashion Week just last month finished with two female models walking down the runway in an implied wedding ceremony with ‘love is love’ projected behind them. I’m not the type to protest (quite possibly too lazy) or to rant on social media, so I realised this is my platform and this is how I should use it.

Channelling my inner designer when I really didn’t need to, I had my opinion printed onto a T-shirt from Das Automat. These guys are super helpful when it comes to the design process. You can walk in with your image on a USB or they can help you create it. They have T-shirts, jumpers and even undies ready to print on or you can BYO. I literally walked across the road to browse through a store and came back to a freshly printed ‘Yes’ tee. Yessssssssssss.

One day, I hope my daughter will look back through my photos, laugh at what she considers my totally daggy style, and then take note that I’ve supported her decisions along with everyone else’s since as long as she can remember.

PS. Shout out to the comfiest outfit I own.
This skirt is linen. And cheap. Get it for summer and you won’t regret it.
The shoes have elastic and feel like clouds.
The bag is mandatory for cool kids and can now be personalised.

Just thought you should know.
