Prahran Market will be the only Melbourne Food Market open Monday 22nd December.

The option to trade for seven days in the lead up to Christmas got the majority vote when Market Traders were polled on the preferred festive season hours back in September. The seven-day shopping streak will mean Prahran Market is the only Melbourne Food Market open on Monday 22nd.

“Locals pack up the car and travel for Christmas, some just want to get organised. Being open on Monday 22nd means we give more options for customers who want the premium and fresh produce that Prahran Market delivers, but without the pressure of a Christmas Eve shop.” – Noel, CEO.

Christmas seafood shopping is also made easier with two new fishmongers, now for a total of four. Fatbuoy Lobster, from Con and Daimien opened its doors in November, and Portside, from Stephen Nairn (Yugen Dining), are the newest additions to Prahran Market’s already impressive seafood category (Claringbold’s and Prahran Seafood). Plus, even more new stores are set to launch before the end of the year.

Trading from 5am on both Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th, shopping for fresh seafood and meat along with fruit and veg can be done with ease.

“a local Market like this runs on the expertise of our small business Traders. We can’t compete with the round-the-clock hours that big retailers can offer, but this year our operating with the spirit of making it as easy as possible for their customers to shop – and to support local.” – Noel, CEO.
